Olivia, Newt and John

A friend of mine is trying to decide on a name for her new business and sent me an email with some of her ideas, that made me think about all of the things I have named in my life. Pets , children and businesses. Some hits ... some misses.

When I was about twelve I just had to have a water newt like my friend Beth. What is a water newt - a lizard kinda thing that lives in the water . I have NO idea why I thought I needed one. I am NOT a lizard kind of girl.  Because I love to be social I thought my newt would be lonely , so I wanted something else in the fish bowl with him. I chose a bright blue fish with a huge tail, I think it was a beta fish. And a snail. There... what a nice little group of friends. Or so I thought. I had to name them of course. The beautiful fish -Olivia.

The water newt - Newt. And the snail .. John.  Grease was my favorite movie. Yes . It. Was.
It was wonderful while it lasted. Until Newt ate Olivia... John floated to the top... and I swear to you Newt escaped . No, not all on the same day.  I searched that pink shag carpet and every square inch of my bedroom... Newt was never to be seen again.
